Stefan Bakumenko is a research consultant at the Center for Civilians in Conflict since November 2022 and holds the position of USA researcher at the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) from March 2023. Previously, Stefan served as an intern at the International Peace Institute, focusing on the protection of civilians and humanitarian affairs, and conducted research on multilateral issues. Relevant experience includes a research fellowship at Rise to Peace on Sub-Saharan Africa's conflict and reconciliation policies, an editorial internship at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, a graduate fellowship at the United Nations Association, and a climate displacement internship at Refugees International. Stefan has also participated in immersive language studies through the U.S. Department of State and interned with its Bureau of International Organization Affairs. Academically, Stefan earned a Master's degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a dual Bachelor's degree in International Affairs and Economics with a Minor in Russian Studies from the University of Maryland.
