Wendi C. Thomas is an accomplished journalist and editor with a rich background in promoting social justice through various media platforms. As the editor and publisher of MLK50: Justice Through Journalism since August 2016, Wendi has focused on economic justice and has presented findings at national symposiums. Wendi has contributed to esteemed publications, including The Christian Science Monitor and The Undefeated, addressing education, racial equity, and economic justice. As a writing fellow at the Center for Community Change, Wendi amplifies marginalized voices through impactful storytelling. Educationally, Wendi created a groundbreaking journalism course at Harvard Extension School and has served as a visiting scholar at the University of Memphis, highlighting issues of inequality. Formerly an assistant managing editor and metro columnist at The Commercial Appeal, Wendi's work has significantly influenced the discourse around social justice in the Memphis community. Wendi holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Butler University.
