Joseph Barrett

Deputy Project Director, Manhattan Justice Opportunities at Center for Court Innovation

Joseph Barrett is the Interim Project Director of Manhattan Justice Opportunities, a project of the Center for Court Innovation. At Manhattan Justice, he leads an interdisciplinary team that provides social services as alternatives to incarceration for misdemeanor and felony cases. He previously worked at the Center's main office developing and implementing pre-arraignment diversion programs and court-based alternative sentencing programs across New York City. Prior to joining the Center for Court Innovation, Joe worked at the Petey Greene Program—a non-profit that trains and coordinates volunteers to serve as tutors in correctional facilities—where he was responsible for expanding the program to Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Princeton University and an MPhil in Economic and Social History from the University of Oxford.
