Andres Del Castillo serves as a Senior Attorney on Plastic Pollution at the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL), focusing on legal strategies to combat plastic pollution globally, including initiatives for a new United Nations treaty. Previously, important roles include serving as a Guest Speaker at the University of Geneva on ethics and social responsibility, coordinating a Working Group on Financing Human Rights for REGARD Geneva, and acting as a Senior Legal Advisor on Indigenous Peoples Rights at Docip, where responsibilities included drafting agreements and supporting indigenous advocacy at international institutions. Additional experience includes freelance journalism, internships with the United Nations and UNESCO, and a range of positions aimed at promoting human rights and indigenous rights through various organizations. Andres Del Castillo holds multiple degrees in law from esteemed institutions, including Paris-Pantheon-Assas University and Universidad de La Sabana.

Over its 20 years, CIEL has trained more than 400 interns from 53 countries, providing an important educational opportunity for lawyers in training; there are very few ways at an early stage of a legal career to obtain the in-depth experience and training in international environmental legal advocacy that CIEL can provide.
