Elise White has a diverse work experience in the field of justice and policy. Elise has held various roles at the Center for Justice Innovation, starting as a Principal Research Associate in December 2014 and eventually becoming the Interim Senior Director of Research & Policy in September 2023. Before that, they worked as the Deputy Research Director and Director of Action Research at the same organization.
In addition to their work at the Center for Justice Innovation, Elise has also been a Speaker at the African American Policy Forum in 2015. Prior to that, they served as the Deputy Project Director at the Midtown Community Court from December 2011 to November 2014.
Elise also worked at the Red Hook Community Justice Center, where they held positions such as Director of Youth and Community Justice, Director of Youth and Family Services, and Youth ECHO Program Manager between 2007 and 2011.
Elise'searly experience in the field includes working as the Youth Education and Violence Prevention Programs Coordinator at HAI from 2004 to 2007.
Elise White holds a Ph.D. in American Studies, specializing in the Theory and Politics of Law and Order as well as Participatory and Feminist Methods, which they earned from the University of Maryland between 2001 and 2013. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in African American Studies and English Literature at Washington University in St. Louis, studying from 1996 to 2000.
