Erika McSwain has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Erika started their career as a Case Manager at FEGS in September 2007 and worked there until March 2012. Erika then joined the Center for Urban Community Services as a Case Manager from April 2012 to June 2013. In July 2013, they became the Associate Director of Operations and Legal Services at the Center for Justice Innovation, a position they held until September 2018 when they were promoted to Project Director. At the same time, in September 2018, they also took on the role of Project Director at the Queens Youth Justice Center. Erika continued in both roles until March 2023. In October 2017, they started working as the Director of Operations at the Brownsville Community Justice Center, a position they held until March 2023. Most recently, in November 2021, they assumed the position of Director of Queens Borough Initiatives at the Center for Justice Innovation, where they currently serve.
Erika McSwain earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Spelman College between 2003 and 2007.
