Helen serves as a Senior Research Associate with the Research and Evaluation team under Science Initiatives at the Center for Policing Equity. With a strong interest in social justice, Helen is excited to integrate her qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research skills and implementation science knowledge into her role at CPE to evaluate programs and reduce racial disparities in public safety.
Prior to her position at CPE, Helen held a variety of positions in multiple settings. She contracted with Results For America, a nonprofit organization, to support implementation of a program helping 28 U.S. cities develop financial recovery plans from COVID-19 with equity. Prior to this role, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Delaware in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program where she worked to adapt a patient-reported outcome measure of resilience for adults with language-based communication disabilities. Helen has also held various clinical positions as a speech-language therapist working with children and adults in schools and various healthcare settings.
Helen earned her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Washington, her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University, and her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University.
