Calen Maningas is a highly experienced Battalion Chief at the Rapid City Fire Department, serving since March 2007, where responsibilities include leading the Technical Rescue team and the Rapid City Pennington County Water Rescue Team. As a Chief Fire Officer with the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Calen participates in a designation program that highlights professional achievements and future development plans. Leadership roles also encompass Team Lead for the Rapid City/Pennington County Water Rescue Team and serving on the Rapid City/Pennington County Incident Management Team. Additionally, Calen is involved as an Agency Instructor for Rescue 3 International and as a Contract Instructor for the National Fire Academy. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Leadership with an emphasis on Disaster Preparedness from Grand Canyon University, an Executive Fire Officer designation from the National Fire Academy, and a Bachelor’s degree in Fire and Emergency Services Administration from Colorado State University.
