Valerie Roper, MSW, is a Community School Director working with Barack Obama Community School (PS 34) in Jersey City, NJ. As a Community School Director, Valerie is responsible for the day-to-day management of the community school strategy in collaboration with school leadership and community partners. Prior to joining CSS, she worked for Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Newark, NJ as the Program Manager for the S.A.I.F (Supportive Assistance for Individuals and Families) Program. Valerie earned a master’s degree in social work with children and families from Barbara Solomon School of Social Work at Walden University, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from New Jersey City University, and an associate’s degree in education from Essex County College.
