Jacob Olander

Jacob Olander has a diverse range of work experience. Jacob worked as a Civic Information Research Associate at the Center for Tech and Civic Life starting in 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at the U.S. House of Representatives, including Constituent Services Representative and Staff Assistant.

At the University of Virginia, Jacob held multiple roles. Jacob was part of the President's Commission on the University in the Age of Segregation, conducting archival research and analysis on racial segregation at the university. Jacob also worked as a Wolfe Fellow and Undergraduate Curator at the UVA Special Collections Library, where they curated an exhibit on women's rights and queer activism. Additionally, Jacob served as a research assistant in the Charlotte Patterson Sexual Orientation Lab, focusing on the parenting intentions of the LGBTQ+ community.

Jacob also worked at the University Guide Service, where they served as a Tour Guide, giving historical and admissions tours. Jacob later became a Scheduler, overseeing the scheduling of tours and coordinating logistics. Jacob gained experience as a Tour Guide and Historical Interpreter at the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, providing historical interpretations of Monticello.

In addition, Jacob worked with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, planning and executing leadership development programming for middle and high school students. Jacob also served as a Resident Advisor at the University of Virginia, overseeing a freshman hall and coordinating community-building activities.

Jacob Olander completed their Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political and Social Thought as well as Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Virginia. Jacob attended the university from 2017 to 2021.
