Mariella (Mari) Castaldi is an experienced policy professional currently serving as the Director of State Housing Policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities since August 2023. Prior to this role, Mari held the position of Senior Legislative Advocate focused on homelessness at Housing California from October 2021 to July 2023. Mari also served as the Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Chicago Jobs Council between August 2018 and October 2021 and completed a fellowship with The Aspen Institute as an Economic Opportunity Fellow in 2019. Additional experience includes roles as a Policy Advocate at the Western Center On Law and Poverty and as a Program Coordinator at the East Bay Community Law Center. Mari began the career as a Field Organizer with the Immigrant Worker Project. Educationally, Mari holds a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a Bachelor’s Degree in American Government and Politics from Oberlin College.
