Ricky Carter is the Director of Major & Planned Gifts at Center Theatre Group. Prior to their current position, Ricky worked as the Associate Director Of Development at GLSEN from July 2019 to June 2022. Ricky was tasked with opening an office in LA for the organization, but then the pandemic hit, and they expanded the team remotely. Ricky cultivated and stewarded GLSEN's entire Corporate & Foundations portfolio directly supervising the Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager while maintaining a robust portfolio of the organization's West Coast major donors.
Before working at GLSEN, Ricky was a Major Gifts Officer at GLAAD from August 2012 to July 2019. In this role, Ricky was responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts from active and prospective donors to achieve an independent revenue goal of $1.5MM. Ricky also strategized with the President & CEO on high profile influencer dinners & meetings to maximize on giving potential. Additionally, Ricky liaised with the Board of Directors for donor events to ensure their networks were cultivated to support GLAAD. Ricky also stewarded current major donors with updates on the organization’s programs & fulfillment of Shareholders Circle benefits. During their time at GLAAD, Ricky increased the number of Shareholders Circle members by over 20% (from 210 to 253) in the first year of this role. Ricky Carter pursued a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature/Letters at the University of Florida. Before that, they attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory.
