Leslie Smurthwaite

Leslie Smurthwaite is a Mining Engineer with extensive experience in project management and engineering within the mining sector, currently employed at Centerra Gold Inc. since May 2017. Responsibilities include the development of cost models for various projects, oversight of daily construction activities as an Assistant Project Manager on the Kemess Project, and initiatives to enhance company-wide health and safety. Smurthwaite previously held roles at MacLean Engineering and De Beers Canada Inc., where accomplishments included managing significant upgrades to underground material handling systems and creating KPI tracking systems. Education includes a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining and Mineral Engineering from Queen's University. Additional contributions to the community include roles in outreach programs promoting science and engineering to young students.
