Dr. Tania Spohr has held various roles in their work experience. From 2011 to 2015, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UFRJ, focusing on the role of developmental genes in tumor progression and the embryonic microenvironment. Dr. Tania also conducted research on synaptic deficits in sepsis and the involvement of glial cells in this process. From 2015 to 2020, they worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Instituto Estadual do Cérebro Paulo Niemeyer, continuing their research on the role of developmental genes in tumor progression, specifically focusing on the role of Shh signaling pathway and the self-renewal capacity of stem cells in glioblastomas. In 2020, they joined CENTOGENE as the Head of Sample Preparation & Cell Culture, and later became the Director of Sample Preparation, Cell Culture, and Biobanking.
Dr. Tania Spohr obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Biologia/Ciências Biológicas - Geral from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 1996. Dr. Tania continued their education at the same university and received a Licenciatura em Ciencias Biológicas in 1998. In 2001, they earned a Master's Degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Dr. Tania further pursued their education and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 2009. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Giving and Receiving Feedback from LinkedIn in 2023.
