David McDonough

David McDonough has a diverse work experience in the legal field. David'smost recent position is as the Legal Services Director at the Central California Alliance for Health, starting in 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Deputy County Counsel at the Office of the County Counsel, County of Santa Clara from 2020 to 2023. David'sresponsibilities there included serving as in-house counsel to various departments within the Santa Clara County health and hospitals system, drafting contracts and agreements, and providing guidance on legal compliance.

Before joining the County Counsel's office, David served as the Co-Chair of the Health Care Law Section at the Sacramento County Bar Association & Foundation from 2019 to 2020. David also worked as Counsel at DSR Health Law from 2016 to 2020, focusing on the legal needs of health plans and insurers.

Earlier in their career, David was an Attorney at Kennaday, Leavitt & Daponde PC from 2014 to 2016 and at Branson, Brinkop, Griffith & Strong from 2007 to 2014. At these firms, they represented insurance carriers in coverage disputes and handled various aspects of litigation.

In 2006, David had a temporary position as a Patent Agent at Antara Biosciences, where they drafted patent applications for electrochemical chip-based nucleic acid detection and in vitro diagnostic products.

David McDonough received their Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of California, Davis in 2000. David then pursued a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from the University of San Francisco from 2003 to 2006. Additionally, David holds licenses as an attorney from both the State Bar of California and the Washington State Bar Association.
