Wade Welton

Director, Athletic Training Program/associate Professor at Central Methodist University

Wade Welton, DHSc, LAT, ATC has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of athletic training and education. Wade served as the Director of the Athletic Training Program and Associate Professor at Central Methodist University-College of Liberal Arts & Sciences starting from July 2015. Prior to that, they held the positions of Director of Athletic Training Education, Head Athletic Trainer, and Assistant Professor at the same institution since August 1992.

In addition to their work at Central Methodist University, Welton was a part owner of Peak Performance Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine from August 2000 to August 2011. Wade also worked as a Clinical Athletic Trainer at HealthSouth Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine from June 1992 to July 1998.

Welton began their career as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Central Missouri in August 1990 and continued in this role until May 1992.

Wade Welton, DHSc, LAT, ATC completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Physical Education from Simpson College in 1987. Wade then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Physical Education, Exercise, and Sports Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from the University of Central Missouri, graduating in 1992. In 2019, they obtained a Doctor of Health Science degree from the University of Indianapolis. Additionally, Welton holds certifications such as BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and State of Missouri License-Athletic Trainer, acquired in 1992. Wade has also obtained certifications in Dry Needling for Orthopedic Rehabilitation and Sport Performance from STRUCTURE & FUNCTION in 2018, and in PERSONALIZED BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION REHABILITATION from Owens Recovery Science, Inc in 2019. Moreover, they possess a CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers with First Aid certification from the American Red Cross, obtained in April 2015.
