The purpose of this position is operating, maintaining and repairing the hot mix asphalt plant and associated equipment and performs related duties as required.
Requirements:
Must be able to travel throughout Minnesota, North and South Dakota
Regular, consistent attendance and regular overtime at all assigned job sites
Valid Driver’s License, preferably Class A
Acceptable motor vehicle record
Requires training or experience in various welding techniques, must be able to weld using an arc welder or cutting torch
Requires mechanical skills and machine maintenance experience
Requires basic mathematical and computer knowledge
Ability to interpret a variety of information and data in written, oral or diagrammatic format
Thorough knowledge of the safe operation of machines and equipment used in the production of asphalt mixes
Thorough knowledge of properties of materials used in the production of asphalt mixes
Ability to learn the laws and regulations concerning pollution control
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Physical strength and endurance to perform all principal duties and responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Mixes asphalt batches by operating switches and controls, controlling the heat, amount of aggregate, asphalt and oil flowing into the weighing chamber
Inspects, repairs, and maintains components of plant to assure safe operation and compliance with pollution control regulations; performs maintenance and service on asphalt plant as required
Weighs materials according to prescribed formulas; mixes weighed materials in mechanical mixer
Dumps asphalt mixes through chute into trucks
Requisitions and maintains a supply of material for the proper and efficient operation of the plant
Operates front end loader and other equipment to unload, stockpile, and feed aggregates, to unload deliveries, make facility repairs, and maintain plant
Takes and records scale, meter, and other readings and records production data; enters production information into computer systems; reconcile and report on daily production
Coordinates tear down, set up and calibration of plant
Operates various hand and power tools, welding and cutting equipment and cranes and hoists
Prioritize safety at all times, following company and industry safety guidelines and protocols
Performs other tasks as needed
