Jim Yeonopolus

Chancellor at Central Texas College

Jim Yeonopolus was appointed as Central Texas College’s (CTC) fourth chancellor in the institution’s 50-year history on November 19, 2015.

Mr. Yeonopolus has made substantial contributions to CTC since he launched his career at the college more than 40 years ago. He began as a counselor for student services and through hard work, tenacity and business acumen, Yeonopolus advanced into leadership roles as dean, assistant deputy chancellor, deputy chancellor and, most recently, interim chancellor. Among other things, Yeonopolus has been an integral part of the success of CTC’s military education operations.

Before joining CTC, Yeonopolus completed a four-year tour of duty with the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam conflict.

Mr. Yeonopolus holds a Master of Education from the University of Arizona, a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Texas State University and an Associate of Arts degree in business administration from Temple College. He is currently pursuing post-graduate studies with Walden University.

Yeonopolus is also extremely active in numerous trade and civic organizations. He is the current campaign chairman of the United Way of the Greater Fort Hood Area, the immediate past president of the Council of Colleges and Military Educators (CCME) and serves on the boards of the Central Texas Workforce Commission, Association of the United States Army (AUSA), National Association of Institutions for Military Education Institutions (NAIMES) and Killeen Rodeo Association.

Most recently, Yeonopolus was was one of five people appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Task Force on Academic Credit and Industry Recognition. The task force was created during the 85th legislative session to identify academic credit and industrial recognition for offenders within the Windham School at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He will serve on the task force until 2021.
