Benjamin Smith

Benjamin Smith is a seasoned medical professional with extensive experience in emergency medicine. Currently serving as Medical Director of the Emergency Department at The University of Vermont Health Network - Central Vermont Medical Center since February 2021, Benjamin also holds the position of Emergency Physician at Central Vermont Medical Center since June 2016. Prior experience includes a role as an MD at the University of Vermont Medical Center from 2006 to May 2016 and as an Emergency Medicine Resident at Denver Health from 2002 to 2006. Benjamin began their career in journalism as a Reporter for The Courier Mail in 1994-1995. Academically, Benjamin holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (1998-2002) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English/Creative Writing from Princeton University (1990-1994).
