Sophia Pugsley

Sophia Pugsley is an experienced professional in peacebuilding and humanitarian response, currently serving as Country Manager at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue since October 2021. Prior to this role, Sophia was the Caucasus Regional Manager at International Alert from August 2016 to September 2021, focusing on peacebuilding strategies in the Caucasus region and overseeing programmes in Ukraine and Central Asia. Previous experience includes serving as Programme Manager and editor for the Russia & Eastern Europe programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations, and as Head of Mission at the International Committee of the Red Cross, where humanitarian activities in conflict zones were coordinated. Sophia has also held positions with Peacebuilding UK, ERPIC, ARTICLE 19, the European Commission, and BASIC. Academic qualifications include an MA in Advanced European Studies from the College of Europe and a BA hons in Modern East European Studies from The University of Sheffield.
