Marco Cerqueira is a PhD researcher at Aquagroup-CCMAR since November 2017, focusing on fish welfare, aquaculture sustainability, and management practices using advanced tools such as proteomics, genomics, and metabolomics. Marco has also been a Life Sciences PhD researcher at the Fish Welfare Initiative since February 2020 and serves as a Fish Welfare Specialist at the Centre for Marine Sciences (CCMAR) since January 2012, where efforts include the development of tools to enhance the welfare of farmed fish. Previous experience includes roles as a research fellow at IPIMAR and the Centre for Marine Sciences, specializing in aquaculture systems and seminal quality analysis in fish. Marco holds a PhD in Sciences of Sea, Earth and Environment from Universidade do Algarve and has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Biotechnology from Escola Superior de Turismo e Tecnologia do Mar de Peniche.
