Ian Simonsen

Ian Simonsen has extensive work experience in the field of information security and consulting. Ian started their career as an IT & web developer at Rús-drekka & Narkotikarði in 1997. Ian then worked as an IT consultant at VIT from 1998 to 1999 and as a consultant at Netsystems in 1999. From 2000 to 2016, they served as a Senior IT-Specialist at Faroese Telecom, where they focused on network, system, and security engineering. In 2014, Ian founded their own company called CyberStorm, where they worked as the CEO, CIO, CISO, and Founder, providing various cybersecurity services. Ian joined Vestas in 2017 as a POWER PLANT Network Security Specialist until 2020. Ian then worked at JN Data A/S as an IT Security Consultant from 2020 to 2022. Ian moved on to Centrica Energy Trading in 2022, where they held the positions of Senior Cyber Security Engineer and later became the Head of Information Security & Governance, responsible for creating a new information security program and ensuring compliance with NIS2 directive. Most recently, Ian joined Sweet Geeks A/S in 2024 as a Senior Information Security Consultant.

Ian Simonsen has a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer & Information Security from the University of Liverpool, which they obtained from 2012 to 2015. In addition, they hold a Datanom degree in Computer Science from Handilskólin, which they completed from 2002 to 2006. Ian also has several certifications, including "Gaining Skills with LinkedIn Learning" from LinkedIn, "Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge v.4" from Cloud Security Alliance, "VCAS 200 Certified" from Verimatrix, "MCPS: Microsoft Certified Professional" from Microsoft, and various certifications from Comverse Technology, Inc. obtained between 2004 and 2005.
