Kate Kelland is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in health and science reporting. Currently serving as Chief Scientific Writer at the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations since August 2021, Kate previously worked at Reuters News Agency from September 2009 to August 2021 as Global Health Correspondent and Health and Science Correspondent for the EMEA region. This role involved coverage of critical health issues such as drug development, infectious disease outbreaks, and strategies for combating major illnesses. Prior to that, Kate spent a decade at Thomson Reuters in various roles, including General and Political News Correspondent in the UK and Correspondent in Germany, focusing on political and economic news. Kate's early career began with BBC Newsnight as a European Political Producer covering key developments in European politics. Educationally, Kate holds a BA Hons in Russian and German from Durham University.
