Debmalya Roy

Debmalya Roy has extensive work experience in the trading and risk management industry. Debmalya started their career in 2003 as a Project Control Manager at Reliance. In 2009, they transitioned to become a Market Analyst, where they analyzed the global oil market and developed complex econometric models for supply and demand analysis. Debmalya also liaised with consultants and analysts and presented energy market scenarios to senior management.

In 2012, Debmalya became a Trader at Reliance, trading derivatives of light distillates both on exchanges and the OTC market. Debmalya also utilized statistical modeling and analytics using R programming for price risk management.

From 2014 to 2017, Debmalya worked as a Senior Trader at Reliance, specializing in energy price risk management. Debmalya traded derivatives of light distillates, conducted technical analysis using Bloomberg/Reuters, and developed business relationships with banks, hedge funds, and trading houses.

In 2017, Debmalya joined Aditya Birla Global Trading (formerly Swiss Singapore) as a Lead in derivatives trading. Their responsibilities included trading derivatives across multiple commodities, devising hedging strategies using statistical tools and data analytics, and analyzing cargo economics for arbitrage opportunities.

Currently, Debmalya holds the position of Jefe de Departmento (Head of Department) for Derivatives Trading & Hedging Strategy at CEPSA since 2023. Further details of their role at CEPSA are not provided.

Debmalya Roy has a diverse education history. In 2020-2021, they attended the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where they completed the General Management Program, focusing on Business Administration and Management. Prior to that, from 2005 to 2007, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Operations Management at the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies. Debmalya has also achieved qualifications like the Energy Risk Professional (ERP) certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals and certificates in Volatility and Correlation, Risk from Euromoney Training, and International Oil Trading and Price Risk Management, Trading and Risk Management from Invincible Energy.
