Partnering closely with our brilliant functional R&D teams, you will work in a dynamic, cross-functional, collaborative work environment with design and mechanical subsystems and overall packaging for LiDAR product development. as well as support new product introductions to high-volume manufacturing processes for automotive and non-automotive customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop LiDAR system and subsystem requirements and specs.
  • Develop the system design concept and provide the system/subsystem error budget and tradeoff analysis.
  • Leading and driving cross-function teams to integrate and characterize system and module-level prototypes and being highly efficient at system issue debugging and root cause partition.
  • Responsible for systematic data collection with a well-defined testing plan and data processing and analysis to drive critical insight and accurate conclusions.

Who You Are:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. or equivalent in the fields of optics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and physics. New graduates are also welcome to apply.
  • Familiar with scientific analysis and generic SW tools such as Matlab, Python, etc.
  • Good experience and mindset for solving complex technical problems in the fields of sophisticated instruments, sensors, optical systems, electronics systems, and mechanical systems. Able to define objectives clearly and systematically conduct system-level analysis, experiments, and data analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of optical imaging systems and a good hands-on skillset in optical system alignment, characterization, and validation.
  • A good understanding of circuitry theory, hands-on troubleshooting experience in high-speed mixed-signal electronics, and a good understanding of mechanical systems with stack-up error analysis and servo system understanding are big pluses.
  • Has strong problem-solving ability and is able to provide technical leadership as needed.
  • A good and reliable team player with strong communication skills. Self-motivated, continually striving for excellence, and can thrive under pressure.

Location:

  • Cepton Headquarters – San Jose, CA.
  • Some local on-site visits to key customers.
  • Travel to regional customer sites and support trade shows and conferences if needed.

The pay range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.  The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, benefits, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
