Mark A. Neporent

Mr. Neporent joined Cerberus in 1998 and serves as Cerberus’ Chief Operating Officer and Senior Legal Counsel. Mr. Neporent, together with other members of the senior executive team, is responsible for the day-to-day management of Cerberus and its global operations. He is also a member of several Cerberus committees, including the Firm’s Operating/Management Committee, Private Equity Committee, Cerberus Business Finance Committee, Compliance and Risk Committee, Valuation Committee, Broker Selection Committee, and Allocation Committee.

Prior to Cerberus, Mr. Neporent was a Partner in the Business Reorganization and Finance Groups at Schulte Roth & Zabel, LLP where he practiced from 1986 until he joined Cerberus. Mr. Neporent has held board memberships at public and private companies across a variety of industries, including transportation, real estate, technology, financial services, and leisure. Notably, he has served on the board of directors at SSA Global Technologies, AMC Corporation, SUPERVALU, Ally Financial (formerly GMAC), and Chrysler Holdings (parent of Chrysler Financial Corp.), among others. He also has extensive experience on creditors’ and bondholders’ committees, including serving as Co-Chair of the WorldCom’s Official Creditors Committee, where he helped lead the company’s restructuring efforts, and following its emergence from bankruptcy, was appointed to the Board of Directors of MCI, its successor.

Mr. Neporent has authored and contributed to legal and business publications and has lectured on insolvency, bankruptcy, and reorganization matters. He has lectured at the Syracuse University College of Law’s continuing legal education program.

Mr. Neporent graduated with a B.A. with honors from Lehigh University and received his J.D. cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law. He sits on the Board of Trustees of Syracuse University and is a member of the Board of Advisors of Syracuse University College of Law. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Lifeline School for Child Development and is active on various philanthropic initiatives.
