Head Patent Counsel at Ceres

Deborah Lowther has extensive work experience in the field of patent law. Deborah currently works at Ceres Power as the Head Patent Counsel, a role they have held since May 2018. Before joining Ceres Power, they were the Interim IP Manager at the same company from October 2017 to May 2018. Prior to their time at Ceres Power, they worked as a Senior Associate at Cleveland Scott York from May 2016 to May 2018. Deborah also served as a European Patent Attorney (Contractor) at QinetiQ from January 2017 to October 2017. Earlier in their career, they held the position of Network Attorney at K2 IP Ltd from April 2012 to April 2016. Deborah was the Head IP Counsel at Isentropic Ltd from June 2011 to April 2016. Deborah has a long history with QinetiQ, where they first worked as a Senior Patent Attorney from 2001 to 2010, and later as the Head of Profession (Patent Attorney) from 2010 to 2011. Deborah began their career as a Patent Attorney at Abel & Imray, where they worked from 1987 to 2001.

Deborah Lowther attended the University of Cambridge from 1984 to 1987, where they obtained a M.A. in Natural Sciences. Their field of study focused on Chemistry, as well as Metallurgy & Materials Science. In 1988, they furthered their education at Queen Mary University of London, completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law during the year 1989. Deborah also holds additional certifications, including a Chartered Patent Attorney from The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a European Patent Attorney from the EPI - European Patent Institute.
