Nigel Metcalfe

Nigel Metcalfe has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Nigel currently holds the position of Senior Director and Head of Late Phase & Commercial CMC, Technical Operations at Cerevel Therapeutics. Prior to this, they served as the Director of CMC at Lyra Therapeutics. Nigel also worked as the Director of Pharmaceutical Development & Manufacturing Sciences at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals. Nigel has also held roles at Gilead Sciences, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Schering-Plough Research Institute, AMRI, Rhodes Technologies Inc., and Glaxo Research and Development Ltd. At Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Nigel played a significant role in leading analytical and technical teams for various products. Overall, Nigel Metcalfe has demonstrated expertise in analytical development, pharmaceutical development, and manufacturing sciences throughout their career.

Nigel Metcalfe holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Nigel also earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Analytical Chemistry from the same institution. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree with Distinction in Quality Assured Applied Chemical Analysis from The Manchester Metropolitan University. Nigel Metcalfe completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Reading, where they achieved a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with Honors in Chemistry. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Member Chartered Chemist from the Royal Society of Chemistry in March 2021.
