Vimal Kumar Yalburgi is a veteran in the industry with over two decades of experience and a stellar track record for linking technology with business. As the Vice President of Engineering at Cerium, he ensures on-time delivery with prescribed KPIs to Cerium’s key clients. He is responsible for nurturing the talent and the overall technical growth of the engineering teams across the domains.

Prior to Cerium, Vimal helmed the VLSI vertical at Infosys and was responsible for an exponential growth in revenue and team within a period of 4 years. He began his career with Wipro as senior engineer and contributed in developing IPs including AV Link Layer Controller, with 5C content protection design and validation. He took over technical front-end role in Japan from 2000 mid to 2003 end and built strong customer relationship and delivery mechanism with major semiconductor companies. He was pivotal in winning and executing key programs like security SoC- based on Iris recognition, re-engineering of ASICs for Industrial Automation products. Soon he climbed up the corporate ladder and by 2007 he was the APAC Head for Semiconductor unit. Later he was responsible for building Analog practice.

He is an Electronics and Telecommunication engineer from BIET, Davanagere and graduated in 1991. He earned his Master’s degree from SJCE, Mysore in 1994 and the same year, he pursued Ph. D in Biomedical instrumentation from IIT, Madras until 1997. During this period, he published 14 papers in various international journals.

His relaxation mechanism is a choice between cycling, jogging and playing Table Tennis and even cooking. In fact, his love for culinary experiments stemmed from his mother’s teaching to be independent in all aspects of life. This learning also enables him to appreciate the diversity of thought process in people around him.

He lives in Bangalore with his wife, Rajani, an Ayurvedic medical practitioner, and a son.
