Josh McCollom

Advanced Technical Artist at Certain Affinity

Josh McCollom has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of technical art, software development, and computer graphics. Josh currently works at Certain Affinity as an Advanced Technical Artist, a position they have held since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the same company as a Senior Technical Artist from April 2021 to May 2022.

Before joining Certain Affinity, McCollom worked at Blue Sky Studios as a Production Technology Technical Director from November 2019 to April 2021. Josh was responsible for assisting artists and technical directors with various tasks, such as debugging shots and implementing software development studio policies. Josh also designed and supported a Python API bridge for the Queuing System.

At Blue Sky Studios, McCollom also served as a Scrum Master from June 2018 to April 2021. In this role, they defined project scope and schedule, assisted in team and software development, and acted as a liaison between developers and the Product Owner.

From June 2013 to November 2019, McCollom worked as a Technical Director (Software Developer) at Blue Sky Studios. Josh co-produced an automated pipeline for converting Maya data into render data, developed a database and automation system to fix rendering bugs and queuing issues, and utilized tools like MySQL, Jenkins, Python, and Shotgun.

Previously, McCollom worked as a Character TD at One Per Person from February 2011 to November 2019. Josh also gained experience as a Character TD Intern at Sony Pictures Imageworks in June 2012 and as a Kitchen Manager at Schoop's Hamburgers from August 2007 to August 2009.

In addition to their professional experience, McCollom has been involved in leadership roles in organizations such as Purdue SIGGRAPH Student Chapter, where they served as President from June 2011 to July 2012. Josh also worked as a Lab Assistant at Information Technology at Purdue from October 2009 to May 2012 while pursuing their degree in Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University, which they obtained from August 2009 to May 2012.

Josh McCollom attended Purdue University from 2008 to 2012, where they pursued a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Graphic Technology with a specialization in Animation.
