Gunn-Marit Nerem has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Starting in 2005, they worked as an Industrial machinery mechanic at Evomec/Odim/Hydrakraft, specializing in assembly and testing of deck machinery for seismic vessels. In 2009, they joined Nordea as a Customer advisory agent, providing customer support and advice. Gunn-Marit later transitioned to Kongsberg Maritime in 2014, where they held positions such as Design Engineer and Technical Lead, focusing on marine handling technology. Their responsibilities included project management, engineering, sales support, and product development. In 2019, they joined Cflow as a Sales Engineer, before advancing to the role of VP Sales in 2022. At Cflow, they primarily worked in sales and key account management, specializing in the aquaculture segment, specifically wellboats, harvest vessels, and land-based fish farms.

Gunn-Marit Nerem started their education in 2009 at Ålesund University College (HiÅ), where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Product and system design, which they completed in 2014. In 2009, they also obtained a certification as a Certified industrial machinery mechanic (Fagbrev i industrimekanikerfaget) from the County board for vocational studies / Yrkesopplæringsnemnda.

Following their undergraduate studies, Gunn-Marit Nerem enrolled at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2017 to pursue a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Product and system design. Gunn-Marit is currently continuing their studies in this field.
