Robert Chen

Robert Chen is a member of the scientific staff at Chai Discovery since September 2025, previously serving as a senior scientist at Cartography Biosciences where significant contributions included developing strategies for binder discovery and lead optimization for an antibody therapeutic, as well as leading the antibody engineering for a T-cell engager. Chen established and led the Biological Models team at Cartography, contributing to the development of cellular tumor models. Educational qualifications include a PhD and MS in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Stanford University, along with a BS in Bioengineering and Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior experiences range from a consultant role at Stanford University School of Medicine to internships at Verily Life Sciences and a Whitaker Fellowship at Imperial College London, highlighting a strong background in advanced genomics and synthetic biology.
