Dr. Gerislioglu earned his Ph.D. investigating theoretical and experimental light-matter interactions in the fields of optics, photonics, and nanotechnology to develop next-generation technologies. As a Robert A. Welch Fellow at Rice University, he worked on various topics including but not limited to physical and geometrical optics, photonics, nanotechnology, photonic integrated circuits, OLED/LCD design, imaging optics, plasmonics, metamaterials/metasurfaces, phase-change materials, nonlinear optics, augmented reality waveguide design, optical biosensors, semiconductors, electronics, machine learning, inverse design, RF engineering, Si-photonics LiDAR, and telecommunication. His research outcomes yielded 42 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals and major conference proceedings, such as Materials Today, Nano Today, Nano Letters, Laser, and Photonics Reviews, Materials Today Physics, AAAS Research, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Advanced Optical Materials, Advanced Electronic Materials, GOMACTech Conference, MRS Meeting, APS Meeting, SPIE Nanoscience + Engineering and more. He serves as an invited referee for Science, Nature, WILEY, ACS, OSA, IOP, De Gruyter, Cell Press, IEEE, Elsevier, PLOS, Springer, AIP, MDPI, LIDSEN, Bentham Science journal families and holds 2 U.S. patents (10,288,563 and 9,923,267). He is a Guest Editor for MDPI Biosensors and MDPI Nanomaterials journals. Since June 2020, he is on the reviewer board of MDPI Nanomaterials and he is the recipient of the MDPI Nanomaterials 2020 Outstanding Reviewer Award.
