Peter Goodspeed has a diverse work experience in the field of natural resources and ecological restoration. Peter is currently working as the Director of Natural Resources at Champaign County Forest Preserves since January 2020. Prior to this role, they served as a Natural Resources Specialist at the same organization from November 2017 to January 2020. In addition, they are an Executive Committee Member at Headwaters Invasive Plant Partnership since January 2020. Peter has also gained experience as a Wildlife Assistant at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources from May 2017 to September 2017. Before that, they worked as a Student Sustainability Consultant at Bell's Brewery from January 2016 to April 2017. Peter has also served as a CILER Great Lakes Summer Fellow at NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration in May 2016 to July 2016, and as an Ecological Restoration Field Technician at Cardno in May 2015 to July 2015.

Peter Goodspeed has a Master of Science degree in Natural Resources & Environment: Conservation Ecology, which they obtained from the University of Michigan in 2017. Peter also earned a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Spatial Analysis from the same university in 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Wake Forest University in 2014. In addition to their formal education, Goodspeed has obtained various certifications, including Wilderness First Aid, Illinois Prescribed Burn Manager, Adult, Child, & Infant CPR & AED, Standard First Aid, FAA sUAS Remote Pilot Certificate, and more.
