Champaign Unit 4 Schools
James Johnson is an experienced educator and soccer coach with a strong background in teaching history and coaching at various levels. Currently serving as a history teacher at Champaign Unit 4 Schools since May 2020, James instructs subjects including US History, ESL World History, and Contemporary World Issues, while also holding positions as the Head Women's Soccer Coach and Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Centennial High School. Previous roles include Head of the History Department at The High School of St. Thomas More, where James planned departmental meetings and led educational technology initiatives. James has also held coaching positions at several clubs and high schools, earning recognition as News Gazette Coach of the Year and IHSSCA Region 5 Coach of the Year multiple times. James holds an Ed.M. in Education Policy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a BA in Social Studies Teacher Education from Loras College.
