Champaign-Urbana Public Health District
Aleya Justison is a dedicated professional with diverse experience in social work, community support, and education. Currently serving as a Community-based Doula at Champaign-Urbana Public Health District since August 2023, Aleya previously held the position of It's On X Fellow at Xavier University's Center for Faith and Justice and completed a Student Social Work Internship at YWCA Greater Cincinnati, where support was provided to middle and high school students through the Margaret's Place program. Earlier roles include Camper Support Specialist at Camp Ondessonk, It's On X Intern, and BRAVE Peer Educator at Xavier University, where workshops focused on power and gender-based violence prevention. Other experiences include working as a Barista at Starbucks and a Public Policy Intern at Ohio Justice & Policy Center, along with serving as a Summer Camp Counselor at Camp Ondessonk. Aleya holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and the Public, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work, both from Xavier University.
Champaign-Urbana Public Health District
The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) has worked since 1937 to prevent disease and promote public health. In 1996, the Champaign County Public Health Department was formed by a referendum of county voters bringing many of the same public health services to Champaign County residents living outside Champaign-Urbana. Together these agencies provide a host of vital services. Public health services include, but are not limited to: dental services; environmental health inspections and permits; disease tracking, reporting, and investigation; HIV counseling and testing, prevention, and management; sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment; family planning services; education and health promotion; preventive services and case management for women; immunizations; and an array of other services to pregnant women, children, teenagers, and adults of all ages.
