Ana Rita Cruz is a skilled researcher with extensive experience in the field of infection and immunity. Currently serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Champalimaud Foundation since April 2022, Ana is part of the Systems Oncology Group (Costa-Silva Lab). Prior to this role, Ana worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and PhD candidate at Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht from January 2019 to December 2021, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of SpA in phagocytosis. Ana's research background includes a PhD candidacy at GSK, studying gene expression profiles of S. aureus virulence factors, and earlier roles at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology/UC-Biotech as a Research Fellow and Trainee, where projects revolved around microRNAs in bacterial adhesion and the development of non-viral vectors for nucleic acid delivery in glioblastoma. Ana holds a PhD from Utrecht University and has degrees in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Biochemistry from Universidade de Coimbra.
