Julie Chao

Julie Chao is a seasoned science communications professional with extensive experience in both laboratory and editorial environments. Currently serving as the Science Communications Manager at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub since June 2022, Julie previously held the position of Lead Science Communicator at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from July 2008 to June 2022. Julie's earlier career includes roles as a Senior Editor at Red Herring, Asia Bureau Chief at Cox Newspapers, and reporter positions at San Francisco Examiner and The Wall Street Journal. Julie is also a former Freelance Writer & Editor from 2005 to 2008. Educationally, Julie holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
