Katrina Kalantar currently serves as the Lead Computational Biologist at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a position held since February 2019, following roles as Senior Computational Biologist and Computational Biologist. Previously, Katrina was a PhD Candidate in Bioengineering - Computational Biology at the UC Berkeley UCSF Joint Bioengineering Program from August 2015 to February 2019, focusing on the host response to infectious disease through metagenomic next-generation sequencing data analysis. Earlier experience includes Software Test Engineer roles at Illumina, where responsibilities involved software verification and expanding automated test coverage for bioinformatics applications, as well as research internships at The Scripps Research Institute and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Katrina holds a Ph.D. in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics from the UC Berkeley - UCSF Program and a B.S. in Computer Science with a Specialization in Bioinformatics from UC San Diego.
