Jodie Reese has a long and varied work experience. Jodie began their career in 1991 as a student at Ohio University. In 1994, they took on the role of Director of Consumer Credit Housing Counseling at Family Service UOV. In 2004, they became a Search and Rescue Technician and K9 Handler at Tyler County EMS. In 2009, they were a Community Coordinator at CCCS of SWV. In 2012, they became an Owner of an online vintage seller at Etsy.com, "Sierras Treasure," and a Financial Counselor at Apprisen. In 2013, they were a Revenue Auditor at Wheeling Island Casino Racetrack and an Educational Outreach Provider at Ohio Healthy Homes Network. Finally, in 2014, they were a Housing Counseling Program Manager at both Change Inc and CHANGE, Inc. Community Action & Health Agency.

Jodie Reese has an extensive educational background. Jodie began their education in 1973 when they graduated from Martins Ferry High School with a College Prep degree. Jodie then attended WVNCC from 1977 to 1979, earning an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Fine/Studio Arts, General. In 1990, they completed their Bachelor of Science in Community Services from Ohio University. In addition to their formal education, Reese has obtained numerous certifications from various institutions, including NeighborWorks America, FEMA, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Social Security Administration.
