Shahina Khatun has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Shahina began their career in 1998 as a Reporter, Feature Writer, and Film Critic at The Eastern Eye. From 2002-2003, they worked as an Administrative Officer at the Government Office for London (GOL). Shahina then took on the role of Founder & Project Leader at Covent Garden Women's Association from 2006-2010, where they developed and managed community projects for hard-to-reach Bangladeshi youth and women. In 2012, they joined Women's AM, Islam Channel as a Presenter/Producer, and later became a Senior Producer at Islam Channel from 2004-2021. Shahina also produced and presented a successful poetry/spoken word show called 'Lyrically Speaking' from 2016-2017, which showcased the talent of Muslim women. Additionally, Shahina worked as a Features Writer at Ilma Magazine from 2015-2016. In 2021, they joined ITV as a Journalist, and in 2022, they also worked as a Journalist at Channel 4. Most recently, they held the position of Assistant News Editor at Channel 5 starting in May 2022. Throughout their career, Shahina has demonstrated a passion for journalism, community engagement, and promoting the talents of Muslim women.
Shahina Khatun attended Surrey Institute of Art and Design, University College from 1999 to 2002. Shahina pursued a degree in Journalism (BA Hons) with a specialization in Print Media during this time.
