Horacio Carias

Horacio Carias is a Portfolio Manager for Schwab Asset Management. Mr. Carias is a member of the team responsible for managing and designing scalable investment processes to deliver personalized direct indexing solutions.

Prior to joining Schwab in 2021, Mr. Carias served as head of quantitative strategies at Orion Portfolio Solutions. In that capacity he designed and managed direct index strategies based on commercial indices as well proprietary factor indices. Prior to Orion, he spent four years as a portfolio manager at Dimensional Fund Advisors where he concentrated on emerging market equities and worked on projects across portfolio management, research, and technology to improve portfolio management processes. He also helped financial advisors and institutional investors understand Dimensional’s approach to investing.

Mr. Carias earned a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, a Master of Arts in physics from Duke University, and Bachelor of Science in chemistry and physics from the University of Central Florida. He is a CFA® charterholder.
