Dr. Benjamin de Kock

Double Bass Guest Musician at Charleston Symphony Orchestra

Dr. Benjamin de Kock is an accomplished instructional assistant professor at Illinois since August 2020 and an affiliate professor at Regis University since August 2019. With extensive experience as a principal double bassist for the San Juan Symphony and Colorado Bach Ensemble, as well as a guest musician for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Benjamin has also contributed as a substitute bassist for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra since 2007. A professional classical double bassist since 2000, Benjamin provides private and group instruction, while serving as a music arranger. Previous roles include professor of double bass at Colorado State University and various positions with El Sistema USA, where responsibilities included arts community liaison and secondary strings teacher. Benjamin's education includes a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor's of Music in Performance from the University of Cincinnati.
