Tony Swanchara has over 30 years of work experience in various roles within the engineering field. Tony started their career at Babcock & Wilcox as an Engineer, where they developed and deployed test and measurement instrumentation for commercial nuclear power plants. Tony then moved on to IBM as a Field Application Engineer, providing support for embedded PowerPC processors.

Tony joined Ericsson next, where they held multiple roles, including Senior Staff Engineer and Staff Engineer. Tony worked on the development of WCDMA and dual mode satellite handsets, participated in system standardization, and collaborated on several patents. Tony also led the recruitment and growth of multinational engineering teams.

After Ericsson, Tony joined DRT as a Protocol Software Manager. Tony managed a software engineering group responsible for radio protocol development for software-defined radio products. During their tenure, the team grew from 6 to over 25 engineers.

Currently, Tony is the Vice President of Engineering at Charon Technologies. Tony manages a multi-disciplinary engineering team and is responsible for defining the engineering organization, expanding team size, and evaluating salary and performance. Under their leadership, the team has grown from 5 to over 30 engineers. Tony's expertise lies in cellular (GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, LTE, 5G), general RF, and specialty product development.

Tony Swanchara attended Virginia Tech from 1986 to 1991, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
