Dan Hess has a diverse work experience spanning from 2004 to the present. Dan began their career as a Canvass Director at Grassroots Campaigns in 2004. Dan then worked as a Substitute Teacher at Antelope Valley Union High School District in early 2005 before transitioning to roles as an English Teacher and a History Teacher within the same district. In 2007, they became the History Department Chair at Leadership Public Schools. Starting from 2010, they worked at Aspire Public Schools, initially as a Humanities Teacher, and then progressed to roles as a Systems Analyst, Software Engineer, and Engineering Manager. In 2018, they joined KIPP Public Schools Northern California as an Associate Director of Data & Evaluation, eventually becoming the Director of Data & Evaluation. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Data Science & Engineering at Charter School Growth Fund.
Dan Hess earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Religious Studies with a minor in Japanese from UC Santa Barbara, where they studied from 1999 to 2004. Afterwards, they pursued further education at the University of Phoenix, where they obtained their Master of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed.) in Secondary Education from 2004 to 2006.
