Alastair McCapra

Alastair McCapra serves as the Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) since November 2013, where notable achievements include achieving Certified Carbon Neutral status and making CIPR the first UK professional body to obtain the National Equality Standard. Under McCapra's leadership, the organization underwent significant transformation, including becoming a virtual entity and tripling participation in Continuing Professional Development. Prior to CIPR, McCapra was the Chief Executive of the Landscape Institute, successfully turning a major loss into annual surplus and spearheading the introduction of Building Information Modelling. McCapra also led the Institute of Conservation, managing a merger of six institutes and overseeing a £1m Lottery grant. With a Master's degree in Commonwealth History from Birkbeck, University of London, and a degree in English & Oriental Studies from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, McCapra's career is marked by a commitment to enhancing professional standards and transforming organizations for public benefit.
