Tim Cleary

Tim Cleary is a seasoned expert in Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) with extensive experience in consulting and advisory roles. Currently serving as Managing Director at Chartwell Financial Advisory since July 2014, Tim specializes in assisting privately-held business owners and management teams through ownership transitions, particularly in analyzing, designing, and implementing ESOP transactions. Prior to this role, Tim held the position of Vice President - Consulting at Principal Financial Group from March 2003 to June 2014, where leadership of ESOP Consulting and Administration Sales Teams was key. Tim's career also includes a significant tenure at Ernst & Young as Principal and National ESOP Consulting Practice Leader from January 1991 to March 2003, focusing on the development and leadership of ESOP consulting practices. Academically, Tim holds a JD from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a BS in Government from Saint John's University.
