Amar Jasarbasic

Amar Jasarbasic is currently a DX at Check. Prior to that, they were a software engineer intern at Amazon from June 2020 to August 2020, working on a summer side project. Amar was also the founder of Marketsheets from April 2020 to December 2020, another summer side project. From May 2019 to August 2019, they were a software engineer intern at Microsoft. From September 2018 to December 2018, they were a data engineer intern at Shopify. And finally, from January 2018 to April 2018, they were a technology analyst intern at Morgan Stanley, where they developed an internal application that uses natural language processing and computer vision to automate the process of validating and extracting information from financial and legal documents (Java), developed and trained a convolutional neural network for a logo detection system (C++), researched and implemented the use of GPUs to speed up the process of training a transaction screening model (CUDA), and was selected as a finalist to showcase their intern project to the Montreal office executive team.

Amar Jasarbasic studied at the University of Ottawa, where they received a BASc in Software Engineering and Engineering Management, magna cum laude. Amar also studied at Lisgar Collegiate Institute. Amar is certified by PADI in PADI Advanced Open Water Certification (Scuba Diving) and by République Française - Centre International D'études Pédagogiques in Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF B2).
