Aaron Morris

Senior Director, Research at Checkmate Pharmaceuticals

Aaron Morris has over two decades of experience in the biotechnology industry. Aaron began their career as a Senior Scientist at GPC Biotech, where they designed and applied an angiogenesis-focused phage display system. Aaron then worked as the Director of Research at Genetica, Inc., overseeing all scientific staff and leading cancer target identification and validation using a functional genomics platform. Aaron later joined PsyCheNomicS, Inc. as the Executive Director of Discovery Biology, responsible for developing scientific and business strategies.

In 2004, Aaron joined Sanofi, initially as a Principal Research Investigator and Lab Head, before becoming the Unit Head for Biology. During their time at Sanofi, they helped establish the company's worldwide Oncology headquarters and served on the Research Management Team.

Aaron then became the Director of Discovery Biology at Wave Life Sciences, where they provided leadership during a period of growth and successfully generated data supporting financing rounds. Aaron achieved advancements in various drug candidates and expanded platform technologies, including establishing collaborations and managing consultant relationships. Finally, Aaron joined Checkmate Pharmaceuticals as the Senior Director of Research in 2016, overseeing translational and preclinical research for clinical immuno-oncology programs.

Throughout their career, Aaron has consistently demonstrated leadership and expertise in research and development within the biotechnology sector.

Aaron Morris has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Molecular Biology from Boston University. Aaron also completed a Postdoctoral Endocrine Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes at UC San Diego. Aaron received their Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry from Illinois State University.
