Gerardo Medina, PhD has a diverse work experience in research and academia. Gerardo started their career as a Graduate Student at the University of Manitoba in 2016, where they conducted research on evaluating the potential of antimicrobial coatings to reduce cross-contamination in ready-to-eat products. As a Research Assistant, they focused on quantifying the bactericidal action of stainless-steel surfaces coated with N-halamine under various conditions.

In 2021, Gerardo joined Costco Wholesale as an ecommerce professional, contributing to their online operations. Gerardo then moved on to work as a Research Technician at CHEO Research Institute in 2022.

Throughout their career, Gerardo has consistently demonstrated their expertise in research, specifically in the area of antimicrobial coatings and their implications in food safety.

Gerardo Medina, PhD has a strong educational background in the field of Human Nutrition Science. Gerardo began their education at Universidad Marista de Mérida, where they earned a Licenciatura de Nutrición degree from 2007 to 2011. To further enhance their knowledge and skills, Gerardo pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Human Nutrition Science at Universidad de Granada from 2012 to 2013. Building upon their previous academic successes, they went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Human Nutrition Science at the University of Manitoba from 2016 to 2021. Through their extensive education, Gerardo has developed expertise in the field of Human Nutrition and is well-equipped to contribute to the advancement of this discipline.
